Local Footy – Protecting Your Lifestyle
After a couple of rounds of the local footy season, we’ve heard of a few people suffering serious injuries. If injured, this may have an impact on your ability to go to work and earn an income.
As Financial Planners, we ask a couple of questions to find out how much protection you currently have if you get hurt playing or training…
What does the footy club cover me for if I get injured?
The VCFL player’s insurance will assist you in paying for out-of-pocket medical costs if you are injured in the course of your football commitments.
Is this going to be enough?
Even though your medical costs are covered (only after you are fully recovered), you may not be able to work.
Consider the impact of having no income.
How would you pay for your everyday expenses?
Can my income be replaced if I can’t work due to sickness or injury?
Yes, Income Protection insurance will provide you with a percentage of your usual income if you are unable to work due to sickness, accident or injury.
But how much does it cost?
The cost of Income Protection depends on your income, age, occupation and smoking status. Thankfully, the Government allows you to fund your Income Protection premiums through superannuation, so it does not have any effect on your cash-flow, or your ability to meet your current living costs. If you do decide to pay the premiums from cash-flow, the cost is fully tax-deductible.
The graph below shows the potential effect of not having any income. Your ability to earn an income is one of your greatest assets and you have the ability to protect it.
We offer clients a cost and obligation free initial meeting to discuss insurance requirements. We work in conjunction with our clients to work out their cover needs, as each individual has a different set of circumstances and requirements.
